The chase Blessing On
September 29, 2011 a little girl was born in Accra in Ghana. Though she
had a beautiful face the parents did not want her because she had no legs and
was missing an arm. Blessing, as
she later was named, was brought to the house of a midwife called Rebecca.
The parents asked Rebecca to help them kill this child since they could
have nothing like this in their house. Rebecca
said she could not and would not do that, so the parents told her they would
take care of it themselves. They began to leave the compound when Rebecca went
after them and said he would take care of the child. Blessing,
as Rebecca named her, is now getting to two years is doing well with her new
mother. The child was brought to
Sister Elizabeth to ask what could be done about the legs and arm. The mother
was told that as she gets a little older she could be fitted for leg prostheses
and an arm; prosthesis. This has
given hope to Rebecca who comes often to see Sister and have Blessing checked. A
child with these disabilities would be a challenge in any culture but here in
Ghana it is a tremendous burden. Rebecca
is not a very young person but one who has a good heart and is God fearing.
She is willing to make the sacrifices necessary to care for this special
little girl. We
ask you to help us help Blessing get what is necessary for her growth and later
to help her get the special prostheses and training that she will need. With
only 100 Ghana Cedis a month we could help Rebecca care for her and later work
with her so she could walk. Her
case will not be easy as she is also missing the arm, but we will do the best we
can to help this child reach her highest potential.
Please consider donating for her care.
